ES Counseling

Helllo! My name is Monica Carrizales and I am the School Counselor at Evergreen Elementary.  This is my 2nd year at Evergreen Elementary and my 4th year as a school counselor.  I love to travel, read, watch sports, and spend time with family and friends including my two dogs.  I enjoy my job and the opportunities I have to work with students, families, and teachers each day. School counseling at Evergreen Elementary focuses on assisting each of our students in reaching their fullest potential by responding to the academic, social, personal, and emotional needs related to the various stages of childhood growth and development.

Services provided by the counseling program include:

  • Monthly lessons in each classroom-topics such as social skills, conflict resolution, friendship skills, healthy lifestyles, personal safety, and positive behaviors, mindsets, and habits.  Each grade level is introduced to the topics appropriate to their developmental needs.
  • Small groups
  • Short-term individual counseling
  • Coordinate and provide resources, support, and information to families
  • Collaborate with local community agencies, organizations, and individuals

Other parts of my job here as an Elementary Counselor is to  organize our building’s state testing. I am also on the Intervention Assistance Team, Positive Behavior Intervention Support team, and work with many outside community resources.

If you have questions or concerns at any time please do not hesitate to contact me. I am here as a resource to students and their families and am happy to assist you and your family in any way I can. Please feel free to call or set up an appointment. I am here each day from 7:30-3:30 and can be reached at 644-9221 ext.3207.
